Hello FCA! My name is Darren Aucoin, Associate Pastor and Director of Ministry Development and Discipleship at MGA in Fort McMurray. And I'm Odette Manship, Associate Pastor and Director of Church Operations here at MGA. We are your Hosts and Lead Planners for the 2022 FCA Convention happening in wonderful Fort McMurray (Alberta), the Land of the Midnight Sun and the beautiful northern lights.
Now you might be thinking, "Wait a second, I thought that the convention was going to be happening in Edmonton this year?" Well, because of all of the different protocols and restrictions to deal with COVID throughout our country, we understood that there will be a lot of people potentially who might not be able to make it to Alberta for this all-important convention this year. The FCA Convention Planning Team along with the Elders made the decision to move the convention to a location that can both host the event live in person as well as stream it online. So that nobody would miss out on this very important convention this year. We do believe that attending in person is the preferred way to be a part of this convention. Time to meet together to pray together and fellowship with one another is super important, especially in this crazy day in which we live all the more so as we see everything going on in our world today. However, with all the uncertainty that this pandemic has brought, we want to ensure that there will be no last-minute changes when it comes to this all-important convention.
This year's theme is THRIVE, where we can experience personal and relational well-being. It reminds me of the scripture in Jeremiah chapter 29. The letter was written to the captives who were in exile in Babylon. What God was saying to them was do not dwindle away, even in the midst of trials and hardships. God wanted them to be planted where they were so that they could get roots. He would bless them where they were. And so we believe that even in this time that God wants us to THRIVE. Even though we are living in a time where the world is in such chaos, God wants us to THRIVE. That means that personal relationships are so important. We want that to be the emphasis of our convention this year. At a time when the world needs one another more than ever - we as ministers need to step up to the plate - so we want to encourage you in that area this year.
Registration and more information are coming your way early in the new year. We are super excited to bring you a convention to feed your spirit and to encourage you to carry on. A convention that will fill your cup, care for your soul, and to equip you to continue to THRIVE in your ministry and your personal lives.
See you in May!
